You must meet the following requirements for recognition of the German certificate as a nursing specialist
- Completed vocational training/studies in nursing in your home country with a license (certificate)
- B2 German language certificate, not older than 2 years, language school ALTE-certified (e.g. telc, Goethe, ÖSD).
- Proof of basic immunization against measles must be provided.
Recognition of your educational qualification
The Stuttgart Regional Council is responsible for certifying the state recognition of your completed vocational training / studies.
Tip for those with a B1 certificate
You can enter Germany with a B1 certificate and complete your B2 certificate with us in approx. 6-8 months.
Our German course is free of charge for you and will be counted as working time.
International nursing professionals who are not citizens of the EU take part in our free of charge preparatory course (approx. 6 months) prior to the knowledge test.
Our preparatory course has a modular structure, so that it is possible to start after a consultation with your supervisor. The qualification includes practical assignments, theoretical lessons and language school (German B2). After passing the language test (B2 German) and passing the knowledge test, you will receive a certificate of recognition from the Stuttgart Regional Council.
The following requirements must be met in order to participate in the preparatory course:
- Completed vocational training / studies in nursing in the home country with a license (certificate)
- B2 German language certificate, not older than 2 years, language school ALTE-certified (e.g. telc, Goethe, ÖSD).
- Valid work and residence permit
- Proof of basic immunization against measles must be provided
- Assessment notice from the Stuttgart Regional Council
- Submit an application for recognition to the Stuttgart Regional Council and submit all required documents at the same time and in full. Please note that it may take several months before you receive your notification.
- The assessment notice evaluates your individual qualification and states what is required for full recognition of your foreign professional qualification. (The asessment notice is also called a notice of deficiency.)
