Your Prerequisites

The path for EU citizens

You must meet the following requirements for recognition of the German certificate as a nursing specialist

  • Completed vocational training/studies in nursing in your home country with a license (certificate)
  • B2 German language certificate, not older than 2 years, language school ALTE-certified (e.g. telc, Goethe, ÖSD).
  • Proof of basic immunization against measles must be provided.

Recognition of your educational qualification

The Stuttgart Regional Council is responsible for certifying the state recognition of your completed vocational training / studies.  

Tip for those with a B1 certificate  

You can enter Germany with a B1 certificate and complete your B2 certificate with us in approx. 6-8 months.
Our German course is free of charge for you and will be counted as working time.

The path for non-EU citizens

International nursing professionals who are not citizens of the EU take part in our free of charge preparatory course (approx. 6 months) prior to the knowledge test.

Our preparatory course has a modular structure, so that it is possible to start after a consultation with your supervisor. The qualification includes practical assignments, theoretical lessons and language school (German B2). After passing the language test (B2 German) and passing the knowledge test, you will receive a certificate of recognition from the Stuttgart Regional Council.

The following requirements must be met in order to participate in the preparatory course:

  • Completed vocational training / studies in nursing in the home country with a license (certificate)
  • B2 German language certificate, not older than 2 years, language school ALTE-certified (e.g. telc, Goethe, ÖSD).
  • Valid work and residence permit
  • Proof of basic immunization against measles must be provided
  • Assessment notice from the Stuttgart Regional Council
    • Submit an application for recognition to the Stuttgart Regional Council and submit all required documents at the same time and in full. Please note that it may take several months before you receive your notification.
    • The assessment notice evaluates your individual qualification and states what is required for full recognition of your foreign professional qualification. (The asessment notice is also called a notice of deficiency.)

We require the following documents for your application:

  • Curriculum vitae (CV) in tabular form and chronologically complete
  • Copy of your language certificate, not older than 2 years, language school ALTE-certified (e.g. telc, Goethe, ÖSD) (entry is possible with B1 or B2)
  • Assessment notice from the Stuttgart Regional Council (if available - but can also be submitted later)

Your application will be reviewed by the medius KLINIKEN. If your application is accepted, we will conduct an online interview with you (e.g. Microsoft Teams, etc.).

Accomodation

Your new home awaits you! We will do our best to offer you an apartment in one of our three staff accomodations. They are located directly adjaent to the hospitals. The monthly costs are approx. 250 € (utilites not included).

Onboarding

While you prepare to move to Germany we can assist you with onboarding support according to your individual needs. Upon your arrival, our Integration Consultant will be available to you as a contact person - e.g. for dealing with the authorities, banking, etc..

Job Orientation

The medius KLINIKEN organize orientation days at which you will receive an overview of all the topics that are relevent for your working environment.
The medius KLINIKEN work with a Buddy System for the duration of your job orientation. A Buddy is your personal contact person who will make your start on the job and at the hosptial ward easier.

Tariff Contract

Our tariff contracts apply to all employees and safeguard your employee rights and your salary. The medius KLINIKEN offer you an attractive salary and a wide range of special benefits.

Qualification

Our vocational school for nursing offers you the knowledge test to become a nursing specialist (Pflegefachfrau / Pflegefachmann).  The preparatory course consists of theoretical lessons and practical assignments. You will be part of a hospital ward team and will be trained and supervised by an experienced team of colleagues and practical instructors.

German Courses

Our qualified German teachers offer language courses up to B2 level.  They also help you understand your new culture and working environment.

Our lessons are complemented with short excursions, strolls through town or simply outdoor lessons to enjoy the weather!

Work-Life-Balance

Working hours of 39 hours per week and 30 vacation days make it possible to plan your free time. If you work shifts or alternating shifts, you can even look forward to up to 39 days' of vacation.
